Revenue Cycle Professionals Have an Opportunity to Make Their Voices Heard
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the next meeting of the Advisory Panel on Hospital Outpatient Payment, which will be held virtually on Monday, August 24, 2026. The meeting is open to the public and provides an important opportunity for healthcare revenue cycle professionals to observe—and potentially help shape—the future of Medicare outpatient payment policy.
The Advisory Panel provides recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services on issues that directly affect hospital outpatient reimbursement, including:
Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) groups
APC payment weights
Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) policies
Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) payment methodologies
Supervision requirements for hospital outpatient therapeutic services
